Discuss your certificate and criminal case together
A Legal Aid certificate authorises covered services from a lawyer who accepts it. Stratton Law accepts eligible criminal certificates, subject to the scope of coverage, a conflict check, and availability. Contacting the firm does not itself confirm representation.
Preparing your criminal Legal Aid representation consultation
Use the documents for your own matter to guide the discussion. Depending on the circumstances, Karandeep can review:
- The charge and court file identified in your documents
- Your certificate number and the services it authorises
- The next appearance and any urgent issue involving detention or conditions
- Whether coverage, conflicts, and availability allow the firm to accept the matter
What to do before you contact us
Have your certificate and court paperwork ready when you contact the office. If you have not applied, use Legal Aid Ontario’s official application information. LAO decides eligibility and coverage; the firm cannot guarantee approval.
Preparing a consultation from Mississauga
Separate the place where you live, the place of the alleged incident, and the court listed on your documents. A Mississauga address does not settle which building you must attend. Keep the court notice beside your consultation questions so the two appointments can be planned separately.
If you are coming to the Mayfield Road office, confirm the appointment before travelling from Mississauga. Tell us whether work hours, a driving restriction, or family responsibilities affect your availability. Ask what can be discussed at the first meeting and how any remaining documents should be provided.
Check the court named on your Mississauga paperwork
If your documents name the Brampton courthouse, its listed address is 7755 Hurontario Street in Brampton. Your consultation at our Mayfield Road office and your court appearance are separate appointments.
Official Brampton court information
Follow the instructions for your particular proceeding. A published video link does not mean you may attend remotely when an in-person appearance is required. If the location or attendance method is unclear, confirm it with your lawyer or the court.
